Clients who receive a certification decision that they have serious objections to may submit an appeal against the decision.
The appeal must be submitted in writing to ControlCert within two (2) weeks after the client has received the certification decision.
ControlCert will compile the case and forward it to the External Representative, who is responsible for handling such matters. ControlCert ensures that the person ultimately responsible for reviewing the case is independent and impartial, with no involvement in the matter under appeal.
The External Representative, together with a possible deputy, will make a final decision, which ControlCert’s management will follow.
It is not possible to appeal the decision made by the External Representative. However, the client may provide feedback, which ControlCert will take into consideration.
Please note that appeals do not include complaints or comments regarding individual nonconformities or auditor behaviour — such matters are handled by ControlCert through its standard deviation and improvement process.
The client submitting an appeal will receive confirmation of receipt within two (2) days, and ControlCert will respond within a reasonable time after the case has been reviewed by the External Representative.
